It was the Lavender towels and the heat that hooked me to yoga!  Previous to 2018, I had gone to yoga classes at the gym and online but never in a heated studio.  My practice was not consistent and I mainly weight trained at the gym.  In May of 2018, a friend of mine had a free pass to a heated power yoga studio and she gave it to me to use.   I went to my first heated power yoga class and I remember thinking “I thought yoga was supposed to be relaxing?”  By the time we got to the end of the practice I felt like I had completely forgotten about everything else in the world and had been lost on this rectangle mat for an hour.  It was the best feeling in the world.  Then to top it off we had cold Lavender towels to lay over our face.  Heaven.  I was hooked.

I began practicing everyday that I could.  I fell in love with the challenge and started noticing how differently my body felt.  My lower back did not hurt anymore from all the driving I did for my career.  I also noticed I was happier and felt so at peace with where I was in my life.  I would be in the grocery store or the car and could remember the phrases the teachers would say in class like “relax with what is”.  It felt so grounding, centering and humbling.

About 4 months later, September 2018 I finished my 200 HR yoga teacher training and the trainings never stopped.  I am addicted to learning.  I love wisdom. I knew the moment I heard that there was a teacher training that it was meant for me to do.  I felt my inner compass pulling me toward yoga.  I had done enough inquiry work or self study over the years that I knew my God given gift was to motivate, inspire, and empower human beings to live their best life and to remove excuses and go for their dreams.  I just did not know how I would end up doing it and started out competing in physique competitions.  I fully believe that you can accomplish your dreams and goals, you just have to decide what you want to do and then create a plan and take baby steps everyday toward that dream.  Being a yoga teacher has satisfied that need I have to empower my community and lead students to follow their inner compass and live their best life.

January 2021, I left teaching at my home studio.  There will always be a special place in my heart for that space and the experiences that it cultivated within me.  Change is hard but it is inevitable for growth.  I had no plan of where I would teach and had no idea of my future as a yoga teacher.  But God and the universe had a different plan for me.

As I write this, I am in the final stages of opening my own yoga studio.  I have the best human beings in the world encouraging me.   I have no doubt that this humble yoga studio will empower, transform, uplift, and encourage this community!
